Volunteer: Prevent Furniture Waste: North Transfer Station Support

Furniture Repair Bank is a nonprofit effort that rescues worn, torn, and broken furniture from ending up in the landfill, restores its value and beauty, and provides it to people in need. Join our community of empathic, creative, and handy individuals! We conduct furniture collection events at the North and South Transfer Stations in Seattle, preventing furniture waste at the source. Dates will vary each month.

Our truck and volunteers will be stationed at the transfer station entrance and inside the recycling building to divert residents who are planning to throw away usable furniture. Volunteer responsibilities include communicating the program to people lined up in their vehicles, and/or offloading furniture from the customer's vehicle and into our truck. After the event, we will deliver the collected items to our workshop in SoDo, Seattle. Volunteers may join for the collection event on-site at the Transfer Stations for a morning or afternoon shift.

Please dress for the weather as this is an activity that takes place primarily outdoors.
