Furniture Repair Bank rescues worn, torn, and broken furniture that was headed to the landfill, restores its value and beauty, and provides it to people in need. Join our community of empathetic, creative, and handy individuals. No previous experience or special skills are required!
- Dress code: Work may involve staple removal, fabric cutting, steam cleaning, fabric disassembly, and other tasks, so please dress accordingly. Closed-toed/closed-heel shoes with heels no higher than one inch are required. We work in a warehouse environment and sometimes outside in covered areas, so please dress for the weather
- PPE: We provide PPE such as masks, cut-resistant gloves, and goggles
- Snacks: We have light snacks and refreshments available for volunteers, and also have a water cooler if you would like to bring a refillable bottle
- Parking: There is limited street parking in front of our space, plus additional parking behind our building near the back entrance. This area is accessible down the alley off S. Holgate St., next to the railroad tracks.
Shifts are set up in 3-hour increments. For your first time volunteering, please plan to arrive at the start of the shift for the onboarding and safety orientation.
After your first shift, arrival times are flexible, and volunteers are welcome to join us for any amount of time that suits your schedule, whether that's one hour or the entire day!
If you do choose to spend most of the day with us, please be sure to sign up for both the morning and afternoon shifts so that we will have an accurate headcount for the day.
**Please note our staff will have a lunch break from 12:30 to 1 pm
